Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. The primary means of advancing the ball is by kicking it, although players may use any part of their body except their arms and hands to control and maneuver the ball, with the exception of the goalkeepers, who can use their hands within their penalty area.

Football is known for its strategic depth, requiring players to exhibit skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and tactical positioning. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board. Football is one of the most popular sports globally, with a vast fan base and numerous professional leagues and competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, which is held every four years and features national teams from around the world. The term “football” can refer to various types of the game depending on the region, but it primarily denotes association football (soccer) in most countries.
