Soccer

Soccer is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal. Players primarily use their feet to manipulate the ball, although they may use other parts of their body except their arms and hands (the goalkeeper is an exception, as they can use their hands within the penalty area).

Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The most significant global body overseeing soccer is FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which organizes major international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.

Soccer is known for its widespread popularity and cultural significance, with millions of participants and fans worldwide. The sport is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and is a key part of the sports culture in many countries. Its simplicity, requiring minimal equipment and adaptable playing conditions, contributes to its universal appeal.
